Vendor information was read from each vendor's own public page on 2 October 2026. Prices can change. Check the vendor's page before you decide.
If you need people to answer a survey, the price you see depends on the unit a vendor charges in: a percentage fee, a price per session, a price per study, or a price per completed response. Those units are not the same thing, so this page lays them side by side. It does not rank them.
| Vendor (page read) | How it charges | Figures stated on the page | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prolific (pricing page, read 2 Oct 2026) | Pay-as-you-go platform: participant rewards plus a platform fee | Platform fee of 42.8% (corporate) or 33.3% (academic and non-profit). Reward minimum $8 per hour; $12 per hour recommended | The page states the fee and the reward floors. A total depends on the reward and the length of your study. |
| SurveyMonkey LaunchPad concept testing (product page, read 2 Oct 2026) | Pay per study, no subscription | No figure on the page as read | The page says the price depends on the number of responses and the targeting. This is one SurveyMonkey product, not its whole range. |
| User Interviews, Recruit (pricing page, read 2 Oct 2026) | Per session: pay as you go, subscription tiers, custom plans | Pay as you go $49–$98 per session. Essential $41–$82 and Professional $36–$72 per session. Custom plans start at 250 sessions | Annual billing lowers the per-session price on the subscription tiers. |
| Chorus (Chorus's own public pricing) | Per completed survey response | US general population: USD 1.00 per completed response, USD 5 minimum. Custom audiences: from USD 1.00, quoted before you buy | You see the estimate before you launch. |
Why these figures are not like-for-like
A percentage fee has no total until you choose a reward and a study length. A per-session price is a price for a participant's session. A per-study price depends on how many responses you buy and how you target them. A per-response price is a price for one completed survey. A smaller number in one column does not mean a smaller total bill.
How to compare for your own study
- Write down your audience, the number of completed responses you need and how long the survey takes.
- Ask each vendor for the total for that exact plan, or work it out from the page.
- Check whether a minimum order applies.
- Check whether your targeting criteria change the price.
Where Chorus fits
Chorus Research is a self-serve survey platform operated by Collective Measure, Inc. You create a survey, define the audience, see a cost estimate and launch. You can also do this through the REST API or the MCP server. For a deeper look at what each response costs and how to size a sample, read how much it costs to get survey responses. For a feature comparison with a single vendor, see Chorus and SurveyMonkey.
